Question: How will you use this Bonner Scholarship to leave a legacy at Morehouse?
Hello Dr. Whitney! I will use this Bonner Scholarship to be a student leader among my peers. I want to be an example showing that a student can balance service, academia, and personal growth. A lot of times people don't realize to be an effective leader, you have to strive to be the best you can be. I want my pursuit of this idea of "peak self" to define my legacy. I'm very grateful that the Bonner Scholarship can help me do this, because finance will never be a problem. Therefore I can further my focus on developing my leadership skills, serving those around me, and wholly pursuing my education. During these four years, as long as I stay on track, my legacy will inevitably flourish.
ReplyDeleteHello Dr. Whitney! Before answering the following question I would like to personally give my thanks to Mr.Rocker, Mr.Bentley and yourself for this scholarship opportunity. The Bonner scholarship is a huge helping financially, socially and in terms of developing leadership skills. In return, I plan to leave a mark within each and everything I'm involved in while at Morehouse. In the community, I want to help as much as possible. Especially, with the uncertainties going on each day with our people. To my advantage I will allow the leadership and brotherhood learned through this organization to excel academically, to gain stronger bonds with my community and to lend a helping hand whenever needed. Then, I feel as if my legacy will be left in a positive way. All benefitting from the great opportunity the Bonner scholarship has provided me with.

ReplyDeleteHello Dr. Whitney, I am very excited to arrive on Monday to speak with you and the Bonner Leadership team. In regards to your question for this week, I believe that it is your actions and the example they set that will one day determine your legacy. At Morehouse, I will use the Bonner Scholarship as an opportunity to bring attention to the needs of our community and to advocate for the importance of giving back. I hope to be able to focus attention on the needs of the most vulnerable, our youth and our elderly, and on the environmental health of our city. Ultimately, by leading by example through service and advocacy, I will build a legacy worth leaving on our campus. If I can inspire even one person to work toward operating with service to our community in mind, I have been a part of shaping and strengthening Morehouse's commitment to community improvement.
ReplyDeleteHello Dr. Whitney, how are you? I will use this Bonner Scholarship to leave a legacy here at Morehouse by using the access that I will gain from Bonner. The scholarship will allow me to extend a helping hand in places that I wouldn't have been able to reach before. I will use the community service mission to create and join programs in order to help as many people as possible. I will leave a legacy because I will act as an octopus, looking for all the ways that I can offer service. That will print a legacy because of how dedicated and how much of a hard worker I will be.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Dr. Whitney. As I sit here pondering what my legacy is, I have to ask myself "What is my goal"; my will to society, and more specifically my contribution to my Morehouse brothers. Well I believe the best way to leave a legacy is by serving. Yes this Bonner program is a scholarship used to help our financial need, but the reason I feel so honored to be apart of it is because I see this program as an opportunity to lay a foundation of knowledge and skill to help me take my love of servitude to the next level. I want to make sure I am not forgotten because I genuinely have a love for giving back.
ReplyDeleteI am being reminded the text from Luke 12:48, "For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more." I feel blessed to be where I am today with the opportunities I have infront of me, therefore I feel that I have an obligation to withhold to give back by using my education, my talents, and my experiences in anyway I can to teach and train my brothers who are coming up behind me.
I'm looking forward to this journey and beginning to live this dream that will someday become the legacy for the years to come.
Through Bonner I will leVe a legacy at Morehouse by simply making lives better. With the Bonner program I will have the ability to easier reach those who are in need of things, in many different aspects of life. Through Bonner I will try my hardest to make sure that these people can acquire these things or have easier access to whatever it is they require. I will leave a legacy by showing that young men of Morehouse are reliable and can be counted on whenever there's a person in need of our help.
ReplyDeleteGood evening, Dr. Whitney! I will use this scholarship to build a platform for me to become a leader amongst my peers. People do not realize that to become an great leader you have go through a lot of trials and tribulations. You also have to earn everything that you work for. I believe that I will be a great leader whether it is socially or academically, I will strive my hardest everything that I do. I am honored and grateful to be even taken under consideration to receive the Bonner Scholarship. Nevertheless, this extra tool of financial aid helps me greatly when it comes to paying for school. Therefore, I can focus on what is important, which is to stay academically successful and making myself into a great leader.
ReplyDeleteThe legacy that I want to leave is a simple one. College goes beyond the classroom. Bonner will give me the ability to express my passion for service and the belief that education goes beyond the classroom. I will use the Bonner program to demonstrate that community service go beyond the number of hours and it is about your passion and what you love to do.
ReplyDeleteHi Dr. Whitley. As not only a Morehouse student, but a Morehouse Bonner scholar, I plan to leave something behind for others coming up after me to not only know about, but to take part in. This Bonner scholarship will enable me to learn and involve myself in so much concerning the community and community service at Morehouse while using the leadership qualities that I have already been instilled in me. Through my involvements with the Bonner program in the community of Morehouse along with the AUC and Atlanta, I plan to leave a rich legacy of community involvement and service by helping the needy and less fortunate.
ReplyDeleteI anticipate on further developing skills to serve those who are less fortunate than me. I have grown out of conditions that people said that I could not grow out of. I have done things that people said I would not do. I just want to be able to provide the same opportunity for someone else. That's what I wish my legacy to be.
ReplyDeleteI would first like to state that like many of the students arriving at Morehouse on Tuesday, we wouldn't be here without the financial support that scholarships give them; Including the Bonner Scholarship. Without it, I would have a much harder time gaining the finds necessary to attend Morehouse. I will use the Bonner Scholarship Program to leave a legacy of change in order to help the future Men of Morehouse leave the impact that is destined for them. Just like Bonner Scholarship has helped me, I will pass on the skills I will gain, to make another one's life easier. Whether it be through community service, or simply editing a friends paper, the Bonner Scholarship will support not only me, but the many people I will impact through it. I can't wait to meet all of you awesome and worthy Scholars tomorrow, and I can't wait to see the change we will make along with the other members of the Class of 2020!
ReplyDeleteGreetings Dr. Whitley! The legacy that I plan to leave as a Morehouse Bonner Scholar is a legacy that is bigger than myself and any of my brothers. I want to leave my wisdom that I will learn from my current Bonner Brothers, behind to guide the next generations of Bonner Scholars for the future to come.I plan to lead them to a way to ultimate happiness through fulfilling there needs and desires for community service.I want to leave behind a better tomorrow and present more service opportunities for other future Morehouse men .A world free of suffering and despair is a world that hopefully all of my brothers will contribute to ending. We can change this world by devoting not only this four years to service, but the rest of our lives to this matter.
ReplyDeleteHello Dr. Whitley,
ReplyDeleteWith this scholarship I will create a legacy that will continue to be a blessing for the rest of Morehouse's to those in the metro Atlanta area. Being that this is the community and environment I will do everything in power with this scholarship, experience, opportunity, etc. to give back to my community in a way that when I look back at where I came from I can say I was able to help create a change. I will take this scholarship and use it to the best of my ability but most importantly not take advantage of it! This here is how I will create a legacy with the scholarship given to me.
Hello Mr. Whitley, I will use the Bonner Scholarship to leave my legacy by not only gaining concepts taught by my professors but by also going back out in the community and applying the concepts I have learned and teaching it to others to improve the quality of life for my communities. It is my duty to serve my community primarily because I am a man that stands for something and that is the people of the world. My legacy will come from my work ethic in the program as well as my drive to help others. Understanding I was blessed with this opportunity I will not take it for granted and will assure that I give my all to the people I serve. I have the mind of a King and the heart of a servant and my legacy will show through the work I perform.
