Question: How do you believe you will approach this upcoming year? Academically? Socially?Financially?
Wow that's a great question. As I think about it, I am relating it to how I came into my first year of high school. If you ask me how that was, I will explain to you how challenging the whole situation was. To briefly describe it, I'll start by telling you how I literally had the hardest schedule to face while on a big, new campus. I was in everything; band, basketball, baseball, NAACP youth chapter, a robotics team. While trying to juggle all the time I had to spend on those activities before and after school, I had to get used to walking across the whole campus back and forth for each of my seven classes in five minutes or less while keeping my high grades up to As. Seeing all of this in text is only putting it mildly, but believe me when I say it was hard. Although I don't feel I will have the exact same challenges in college, I quote from one of my favorite movies "The Count of Monte Cristo", for any other challenges I have before me when I say "do your worst". I believe I have overcome obstacles, I've seen things, and I've been taught lessons that have made me strong enough to overcome adversity. I will not quiver down and let the devil get the best of me, I will not quit in the first sight of adversity, and I will not end here when my destiny is calling me. I will push myself as much as I have to to accomplish what I am trying to do. I believe my grades will be fine just as long as I keep my mind right, ask for help, stay focus, and continue to want a high GPA. As shy as I still am, I have been trained to make connections and to keep great relationships. I admit that will be a challenge for me since like I said I am shy and now I have to do it all for myself, but I do believe I will do what I must. Lastly, financially I think I will get by. Thanks to this program, other scholarships I have been awarded, and my support system, I think I will be alright. If I am not, I will not hesitate to being a working college student if I have to. Altogether I believe that nothing is put in front of you that isn't capable of overcoming. College will be a fun growing experience where I will make a ton of connections while getting the things needed to further mature me into the man I want to be, so I will approach college with open arms as I prepare to take it on.
ReplyDeleteAs I approach this upcoming year at Morehouse I plan to continue to excel academically as I did in high school. I'm fully aware that college is a different feel and moves with more fluidity however, I'm not going to allow that to discourage nor hinder my progression. Socially, I plan to make many new friends and gain connections centered around my field of study and around what I have planned for my future. Financially I plan to budget and do what's need to pay back any loans. I plan to come to Morehouse with a mature mindset as a man and no longer a adolescent.
ReplyDeleteApproaching this upcoming year, I plan to really work on my time management. Time management helps you maximize every aspect of your life; academics, family, socially, community service. I feel like learning how to set aside time for everything will definitely set me up to succeed at Morehouse, being that I know I want to be involved as much as I can. I do not want to be behind on the opportunities that may be opened up to me due to poor time management.
ReplyDeleteI will approach this year with the end goal in mind. I have had the ability to be fortune to not have to worry about the finiacial side of college. This allows me to focus in on the academic side and the social side. I believe that I will make a schedule, so I will have some time to have fun. Socially, I plan to make sure I am involved as much as possible. At the same time having time to build friendships, relationships, and connections. Doing all of these things with the end goal in mind.
ReplyDeleteI will approach this upcoming year willingly, focused and open mindedly. Academically I will be willing to learn new things. Be ready to apply what I'm learning into my everyday life. I will look forward to the new relationships that I will be building with each individual I have an encounter with. I will approach this year with expectations and with being open minded, focused and willing I know that no matter what I will be able to meet or even exceed my expectations. This is how I plan to approach this year academically, financially and even socially.
ReplyDeleteI will approach this year academically expecting nothing but the very best from myself. I know college will be a huge adjustment, but i trust myself knowing i will do my best. Socially i hope to meet lifelong friends that will help better me. Financially i am blessed enough to have a mom that works for Morehouse, therefore giving me a tuition waiver, so going into the year financially my focus will be doing my best being a Bonner scholar.
ReplyDeleteIf at all possible, I plan to perfectly balance all aspects of my college lifestyle. I would like to ensure I have an income to pay off loans and/or debts through part time jobs and/or internships. Socially, I look forward to meeting everyone involved in Bonner and making friends that way, not to mention I have some friends coming to school here with me. Academically I will try to the best of my ability to keep up with school work and studying while trying to juggle everything else I'll be doing in college, including bonner.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to attack this upcoming year like a beast. Straight out of the gates, I'm going to be on top of my grades so I can get full ride offer from Harvard or Columbia Law School in the next four years. Socially, I'm going to surround my self around people with positive energy and that are doing positive things. I'll also be looking into fraternities in order to establish myself as apart of a brotherhood and create relationships with people that I can rely on. It's going to be a lot coming from New York into Atlanta and socially defining myself but I know it's a challenge that I can easily overcome. Financially, I have a lot to work on. I have trouble saving any money, but coming in with this mindset that I will need to save money and be smart with it my freshman year, I will create a budget and put away as much money as possible. In summary, as my peers from Brooklyn would say, "I'm going to be on my bully" this upcoming year. On top of everything that is in my control so that I can be successful in the future.
ReplyDeleteAs an incoming freshman at Morehouse, I plan to approach this upcoming year with force and tact. Being that this will be my first year in college, I know I will come in not knowing the ins and outs to college life, but I intend to launch into this new beginning with a mindset ready to learn. Academics are most definitely my priority, so I am going to make sure that I stay on top of my work from day one.
ReplyDeletePlanning ahead and making use of my free time are two things that I believe will offer me much success academically. Socially, I am excited to meet new people. I look forward to networking and joining a few clubs and organizations that interest me. When it comes down to my finances, I aim to do something not many college students plan to do while in school. I want to start saving and investing early on. By the grace of God, I do not have to worry as much as some do about paying for school, so I do not plan to just throw my money down the drain. I want to be smart with my finances. I am sure everything will not go as perfectly planned, but ultimately, I hope to approach and end this school year successfully.
This upcoming school year I am entering Morehouse College with a plan to take the necessary steps now in order to be academically, socially, and financially stable in the future. Academically, I have challenged myself for the first 18 days upon arrival on campus to go the library at least an hour a day. This will train my mind and get me in a routine of going to the library everyday to study, complete work, or just time outside of the dorm to think. Apart from this 18 day plan, I plan to simply just work hard and stay focused with my studies the entire year.
ReplyDeleteSocially, I am challenging myself to be involved on campus, even though I am just a freshman. I plan to get involved in the SGA organization and even run for freshmen leadership positions. Also, knowing the importance of contacts I plan to reach out and build relationships with upperclassmen, professors, and other faculty. Lastly, financially I will continue to keep the same routine I have had since my first job. This routine is to save 10-15% of all my earnings and to save every 5 dollar bill I receive. I am blessed to have my college expenses paid off due to my hard work, so any earnings I receive throughout the year I will spend it smart and put a percentage into savings.
I will approach this upcoming school year determined, focused and prepared for anything that comes my way. Socially I will be willing to step out of my comfort zone and make new friends. Academically I stay focused in all of my classes so that I can maintain at least a 4.0 Grade Point Average. Financially, I will check my bank statements at least once a week to make sure that I stay on budget. I will also buy what I need rather than what I want mostly. I will approach this year with high expectations and standards for myself. This is how I plan to approach this year socially, academically, and financially.
ReplyDeleteI will approach this school year with an open mind and a desire to work hard in each and everything I do. Socially I want to get to know each and every last one of my brothers so that I can have relationships that last a lifetime. I want to also build relationships and connections within the community I choose to perform my service activity from. Academically I want to attack the year head strong. I want to strive to be the best in every academic course and elective I choose to take. I want to get to know all of my professors so that they can bring out the best in me as an individual. I want to learn to be a 3 dimensional student that learns something different from each and every person I come across. Im not going to lie but financially, I am very cheap. I only like to spend my money on something that I really need but each and everyday I continue to learn how to spend money on something I truly desire.
ReplyDeleteAs an upcoming freshman, I will approach the school year with a eager mind, and a desire to learn. Previous to Morehouse, I have taken two years of dual-enrollment class, and I am anxious to see what an actual college experience holds for me. My older brother started Morehouse last year, and has told me all about the college experience, but he withholds from just enough to get me excited. When I arrive at Morehouse in the fall, I just can't wait to meet all of you guys, and see what the future has in store for me. Almost one more week!!!
ReplyDeleteI plan to approach this year with determination and commitment to my goals. I plan to start out how I want to end up with the end in mind! I want everything I do next year to connect to my long term goals as anything else would not be productive. I hope to be inspired as both a scholar and an athlete to achieve excellence in anything I undertake. I am so excited and hopeful for the upcoming year and all that it will bring. I am looking forward to starting this leg of my life journey...
ReplyDeleteAcademically I will approach this year, with the ambition to succeed undersranding that my life starts now and will be based upon myself if I want to succeed. Socially I will continue to be me, which is the laughing, joking, passionate, strong-willed Man and I look forward to meeting my Brothers and Sisters who all have the same purpose and that is to Succeed. Financially, I will go about each day understanding that I gave up a full ride somewhere else to attend the college of my dreams, with that in mind I will make sure that I fill out all the scholarships I can to get there primarily because I know that I can and will do it, it all is upon me. So in summary this school year I will look as a game changer, I will be a sponge to the knowledge I receive and I will help water my Brothers and sisters along the way. I will stand strong in my identity and appreciate everyone who stand strong in there's. I have already made a man out of myself handling my responsibilities, but now going to Morehouse I will enhance the skills I already posses, and just for these simple reasons I can't wait to start my Freshman Year at Morehouse College.
